S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Jacob French for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. #1 Gift, Administration (59%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I’m a leader. Most of my experience is due to a long career in sports and several leadership roles in my job career. My drive to succeed won’t allow me to follow someone that I believe is doing things the wrong way or heading down the wrong path.

#2 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (50%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Everyone needs a pick me up at some point during your life, if not every day. While I may always deliver said encouragement the way some need I understand that there are different ways of communicating and not everyone excels at all of these.

#3 Gift, Mercy Showing (43%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Life experiences have taught me that it doesn’t matter what your background or your current situation is, there will be times when you feel inferior, have a run of bad luck, make a poor decision or experience a loss. These are unavoidable aspects of life and there is no reason to look down on others that are experiencing one of these situations. We as humans should build each other up instead of tearing each other down.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Playing the game of basketball, or sports in general, is one of my ultimate forms of joy. I get a thrill from competition and just am endeared to many sports.

2. Video games is another activity that brings me a great deal of joy. This activity lacks a little in the fulfillment category however.

3. Socializing with friends and family gives me a great deal of fulfillment and oftentimes joy. These relationships are crucial to my mental well being.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I believe I am like most people and tend to prefer working with people of similar interests and age as myself but have also known myself to work great with people of all ages.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Acts of service such as mission trips or outreach programs have been some memories in the church that stick with me and I find that those areas are what I am passionate about.

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was raised in the church and have just gradually become more in tune with where I want to be as a Christian vs where I’m at. I have found recently that having a good role model is a valuable asset to have in this.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Participated in 2 mission trips with Holmeswood Baptist Church (Kansas City, MO) as a youth. One we served at an inner city youth center in Chicago and the other we helped rebuild homes after Hurricane Katrina down in Bay St Louis, Mississippi.

Went to the Dominican Republic with Livin the Dream Ministries in 2019 and partnered with Hispanola Ministries to provide outreach to some local schools and put on basketball minicamps for them.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Getting married to my wife has led to a much more rewarding life. I have a partner to enjoy life with now who constantly betters me as a person.

The birth of both of my children has brought a completely new outlook on life. I am now responsible for their lives as well as my own. They are a constant challenge but also a constant sense of joy.

Transferring schools in college seems like a small event but looking back it really had a big impact on how I ended my college career as well as where I am in life now.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

My parents divorce has changed my perspective on relationships and made me rethink how I am in relationships to avoid that outcome.

I was in a dark place for a while after tearing my Achilles during Covid and it has lead to a stronger relationship with my family and has taught me that sometimes you need other people to lend you a hand.

The passing of my grandmother caused great grief among all family members. She was a fantastic person and has influenced many in my family. Memories of her have changed how I want to act and live my life.

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. Giving my family the life they dream of.

4. Influencing the next generation and helping them become the type of people the world needs.

5. Finding a way to combine my passions/joys and my career in a way that I can do some good.
