S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Marissa Bondurant for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. I love to read and study God’s Word.

2. I love to write – not just for myself but for the benefit of others.

3. I love discipling others in their personal walk with Jesus and helping equip them for ministry.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I love working with women of all ages – who have a similar heart for pointing people to Jesus (rather than a specific pastor, author, leader…).

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I love equipping others. I’ve spent the last 5 years serving with a ministry where my role was focusing on leadership development for the 20+ women serving in the ministry. I also love the idea of helping churches be better equipped for coming alongside families walking through a medical crisis.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I grew up in a strong Christian home and became a Christian at the age of 8. My brother was going through some medical challenges and that was the catalyst of me putting my faith in Jesus and asking Him to be the Lord of my life.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Most recently I have served with Community Bible Study (an International/Inter-denominational Bible study) in San Antonio, Texas. I have served with them for 9 years as a children’s teacher, an adult women’s group leader, the prayer chairwoman, and the associate teaching director.

I have served at my local church – Redeemer Presbyterian Church – for the last 10 years – as a Community Group leader, VBS group leader, on various women’s ministry teams, and other behind the scenes tasks.

I also consider my time at home teaching my children about the Lord as well as homeschooling on and off for the past several years – my ministry!

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

The ongoing teaching and culture of my church: they very much teach a Biblical view of lament and suffering. They provided the foundation for me and my husband to be able to both grieve and have hope during our daughter’s cancer journey.

My many years at Community Bible Study (CBS) taught me a lot about prayer – especially using Scripture to pray. They also taught me how to dive into Scripture and study and apply it’s truths.

My marriage – my husband has taught me a lot about repentance and forgiveness and what it looks like to serve others.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

My brother’s health struggles as a child: that experience was instrumental in my coming to faith and began my life long relationship with the Lord where “medical crisis” became His love language to me and the ways He continually reveals more of Himself to me.

Three of my four girls have been given “bad news” in utero – and my future cancer kid had such “bad odds” of surviving that I was encouraged to consider abortion. The Lord graciously met me in each of these situations and walked tenderly with me through many ups and downs of medical uncertainty.

And of course my daughter who was diagnosed with cancer in 2018. Once again the Lord used a medical crisis to show me more of Himself. Our fourth daughter is currently still under observation for a tumor/cyst that she was born with. We are by no means out of the shadow of medical issues but the Lord has slowly built up our endurance, our peace, and our trust as He walks with us.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. Write Biblical encouragement for women with medically needy children.

4. Train pastors/ministry leaders on creating church cultures where Biblical lament is present, and suffering well is seen as a crucial ministry within the church.

5. Encourage moms who have wandered (or fled) from God to know they can go back to Him.
