S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you John Mills for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Teaching (96%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I enjoy study and feel a burning urge to communicate what I learn to others; Also, I endeavor to make complex things understandable but not oversimplify them.

#2 Gift, Pastoring/Shepherding (90%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Teaching must have as it’s goal, the benefit of those who one is teaching. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up! People need help and sheep need fed, but incarnational love goes beyond just content or even experience-Pastors must be shepherds tending the heart&soul of the sheep as they walk beside them.

#3 Gift, Prophecy (84%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Prophecy for me takes the form of helping people (with the help of the Spirit) out from under the tyranny of their wrong ideas and untoward experiences both with themselves and others. They see their blindspots and see God “as He really is” more clearly.

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I grew up attending Church, but when I was 15 i decided that while I knew the right answers to the most important questions, I needed to accept Jesus’ invitation into a relationship with Him directly, ask Him to forgive me of my sins and let Him lead my life. Praise the Lord!

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

South Platte/Life Change Church-~6 years both as attender & assoc pastor for Worship; Discipleship work as well

Roanoke Baptist Church-4.5 years-Associate Pastor-Worship+Outreach

1st Baptist Church of Saluda, NC-1.5 years part-time Worship Leader

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Christian/Theological Education: Both College and Seminary exposed me to both helpful Truth and helpful mature Christians

Meeting and Being Discipled by my mentor

Getting Married!

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

My Father was a rage-r growing up. He and my Mom fought alot; She was emotionally inflexible and struggled to attune to me.

Resigning from a church staff in a very difficult season of Revitalizing a church. Trying to come to terms with why God would let churches fail.

Being single all through my 20’s.
