S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results
Thank you Avenell Johnson for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have had a rough road in life and after finding the only solid ground in a world of sinking sand I want to help others find their feet as well.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I grew up in church but had no understanding of scripture until after years of drug addiction, rebellion, a terrible divorce and other issues. Once I began to understand the word of God I feel like I have a fire in me that just wants to consume everything . My desire for people to understand the word causes an emotional response as strong as the most anger I have ever felt. Its like a physical need almost..
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Having been one of the despised types of people of various types throughout my life I remember what it feels like and my heart aches for them. I want to give the comfort I received from God to them.
[H]eart
1. I am involved with a Sunday school class geared toward new believers. In the class we go through the basics of what it means to be a christian. I enjoy hrlping define and answer questions of those starting their journey.
2. I also have been meeting together with people who are not Christians. Just hanging out being friends, seeing their world and taking the opportunities to mention my faith and what it means to me when presented.
3. I also have times with my son explaining the Bible. I enjoy going passage by passage and talking about it. I enjoy doing this with anyone who is open to just discussing the word of God.
I guess I feel drawn to teenagers a lot bcause I think the world is so confusing for them right now. But I also feel drawn to those dealing with mental illnesses like depression and anxiety. Being a single mom I also feel deeply there is a need for a new kind of ministry because I really dont fit anywhere in the church.
Single parent ministry is something I see a need for. I also think there should be a ministry devoted to conecting kids and teens with seniors. I think they both can benefit from the others perspective. The seniors offer much wisdom and the youth can be a source joy in providing an outlet for so much spiritual wisdom and experience that often gets over looked.
Drug abuse/recovery
Marriage/family issues
Compulsive behavior
[A]bilities
I am a barista/barista trainer at Starbucks
Technical support, preschool teacher, goodwill- processing donations, server at restaurant, data input, working with databases, general customer service
I write fiction, I am artistic, I am very good at presenting new perspectives. It is my natural way of thinking to automatically consider the oppositions point of view in any conflict or situation and to assume the best about them
I have taught a small group of youth kids on how read the bible, how to do bible journaling and how important it is to always go to the bible before completely accepting any teaching. I have also given a few minor speeches on how to study the bible effectively.
My biblical knowledge and the mercy I have been given that allows me to extend it to those around me.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.
Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable
Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline
[E]xperience
I was raised in the church but strayed. I got caught up in the culture and made a lot of mistakes. Eventually I got pregnant then married and my drug addiction got out of hand after my son was born. I went to Walter Hoving Christian home and was really taught to read the bible. My whole life turned around in that time.
Calvary Community Las Vegas, NV volunteer with youth group 1 year
New Life Community church Sacramento CA, volunteer
When I moved to sacramento I did not really know how to get connected. I woman noticed me alone at church and invited my to first things first. I was not a new christian but the class made a huge impact on me because I think there is such a need for really teaching new Christians what we believe.
Going to Walter Hoving home was when I got saved, but jut the whole expeirence of living with women on the same kind of journey as I was on was the best time of m life. Seeing God move in each of us on a daily basis was mind blowing
At Shadow Hills church in las vegas I was in a mentoring program. In this program I met with a woman who was a long time christian once a week. We went through a study and just talked. I really gained so much from her experience and knowledge.
After about 30 years of terrible anxiety, bouts of depression, counselling, psychiatrists, trial after trial of ineffective or counter productive medication, God lead me through some unusual circumstances that led me to a correct diagnosis of ADHD. I finally have the correct medication and I feel like a new person. I cannot describe in detail but there was a very spiritual aspect in how it all cam about. I had to really trust God and not lean on my own understanding. When there is something physically wrong and you spend years and years and years getting your hopes up for help only to be let down again and again it can just crush your spirit in a way that no one who hasn’t been through it can understand
I spent a lot of time in school trying to get to where I could get a good job. I became A+ certified and got a technical support diploma. after about a year of being unemployed I got a contacted position at Apple, but was assured I would likely get hired on permenently. I commuted an hour each way, worked tons of overtime, and then my contact expired. I was invited to come back on new contract but just gave up. Spent a lot of time unemployed , ended up at Goodwill processing donations. A friend of my sisters ended up recommending my to Starbucks and I got a job there. It is a very fast paced confusing job and not many new hires stick around. The job was so intimidating and I felt like such a failure because I kept messing up for almost a year. This is about when I got the correct diagnosis and medication. God allowed me to succeed and now I just became a trainer. I am so excited because I have the opportunity to help the new people coming in have a much better experience. Now I love my job and I have really been able to talk to so many people about my faith. I get to be the bright spot in someones day and I love it.
My divorce wwas a huge struggle. I got married because I was pregnant to a man from a different culture. We had only been dating for 6 months or so. He left me and then months later filed for divorce and then tried to take my son. i went through a 3 year custody battle. It ended with him terminating his rights after using my son to hurt me the whole time. Those were the best worst years of my life. That time taught me how to hold on to Jesus like nothing else. If I hadnt known Jesus or been reading the bible I think I might have ended up in a mental institution. I was freshly off drugs and had no idea how to handle the kind of stress I was under but day by day God just kept showing up and eventually h e removed my ex husband from our lives completely.
Wrapping It Up
The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?
1. My Relationship with GOD
2. My Relationship with Others
- Putting Your Spouse First
- Your Kids Second
- Everyone Else After those
3. To open a kind of Christ centered community center where there was always someone on staff to talk with an pray with people. Where you could just walk in and fall apart and people would gather around you and lift you up and guide you to where God could heal you. A place for people to use their gifts in teaching bible studies, coaching sports in a godly way, just getting to know other christians and helping reach out to the communtiy and network within it. So many times there are other Christians with a heart for the same things and possible th means to help move things forward but we never meet each other. Most importantly in this center I would design a curriculem for studying the bible. I would teach courses in this year round and try to have different people teach different courses on other aspects of christian living.
4. I would like to adopt a few children from another country where the amount of orphaned children causes them to just be forgotten about
5. I would like to take in teenage foster kids who have been rejected over and over thir whole life. I would like to patiently show them what Gods mercy and love looks like in hopes of helping them come to know the father they have always had.
