2. Reading, almost anything with good characters, plot, and world building is enjoyable to me.

College age people; we probably go through the most stress and uncertainty in their life from the time we graduate High School to the time we graduate college and just being there to hear other people’s issues and use scripture or personal experiences with Christ to encourage them or help them get through a hard time is something I always enjoy.
Older elementary students; they are so curious and inquisitive about everything that to hear their questions makes me wish I was as carefree and open minded about the world as they are.

We have a young adults ministry but I really want to know how to get college students involved in the ministry. There are a few but they live here most of the year. I want to be able to reach those who may only be here a semester at a time and make Cornerstone their “home church” while they are here at USCB each fall and spring. As a part of the leadership of 843 The away this is something that has been on my mind a lot.

Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

[E]xperience

We moved to Texas between my 7th and 8th grade years of middle school. We attended a big church (there are no small churches in TX) called Community of Faith and the pastor was preaching on baptism and how it’s a sign to the world that you believe in Jesus and that he died for your sins. I was 12 or 13 at the time and knew that Jesus had died for my sins so after looking at my parents and sister and quickly talking about how we all wanted to “show the world we loved Jesus” we got baptized as a family. I got baptized again in my senior year of high school with my sister and that was a really emotional moment for us. It’s probably my favorite moment with her. Even though I got baptized I still chose to sin, I knew it was wrong and probably shouldn’t do it but part of me didn’t care. Fast forward 3 years and I move back to Bluffton, a place I hadn’t seen in 7-8yrs. I was bitter, angry and overall unhappy. I would lash out at my parents at the smallest thing. After being invited and either saying no or making up an excuse to not come to Cornerstone’s YA ministry when asked by a friend I finally felt that I couldn’t say no anymore and I begrudgingly came. That night felt weird. The people I met were nice, welcoming and real. Over the course of the next 3 years I would become a regular attendee of the ministry and eventually the church itself. I now serve every Sunday as the lead of 2nd and 3rd grade and I’m part of the leadership for the YA ministry. My relationship with Christ is more real and important to me than it ever was before and when people ask me where I go to church I always say “Cornerstone”.
