S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Mary Lowenberg for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#3 Gift, Evangelism (75%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I do enjoy leading a women’s Bible study and encouraging the members of the group to grow in the Lord and as they learn, to serve. I am learning more about the Lord all the time and enjoy sharing what He is showing/teaching me.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Study God’s Word and meditate on Him and His creation.

2. Take care of my family (husband, children, and grandchildren).

3. Pray for others.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I believe I work well with most people, of any age. I enjoy working in the nursery and with kids. I enjoy working with young women and with older women (women my own age).

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I am excited about the many small groups that have started and the numbers of young couples/families that are involved. The growing children’s ministry and youth ministry excite me. I have been praying for spiritual growth for our church attenders and am excited to see how the Lord will do that. I am hopeful that our church debt will be paid off soon and see the Lord moving us in that direction.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I heard a salvation message early in my teen years but did not respond. The Lord wooed me for many years. Finally in 1972 I attended Explo 72 in Dallas, TX, and made the decision to invite Jesus into my heart. I had done this before but didn’t believe it really happened until that summer of 72. I finally experienced the peace of God and knew that if I died I would go to heaven. I have continued to grow in Him these many years and am still learning about Him every day.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ottumwa, IA. Served in youth ministry for 1-2 years.

Lead ladies Bible study in Thornburg, IA. Non-denominational, local ladies group.

MOPS mentor at our church for many years. Helped my husband with his Sunday school class. Choir member for many years. Helped in nursery. Taught pre-school, Wed night class for several years. Currently leading a women’s Bible study. Volunteer receptionist. Have served on the church board.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

My husband and I spent several years away from the organized church, in what we know now was a cult. From that experience, however, we learned to trust wholly in the Lord, and can see how easily people can be led astray if they are not in God’s Word daily.

Serving 22 years as a hospice nurse. It taught me much compassion and the value of life, but if one loves the Lord, not to fear death.

Providing a home for two young men in their last year of high school and assist them to get into college; showing them a godly family/home.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

The time we spent in the cult, estranged from family and friends. We learned that preaching God’s Word without showing love does not work.

When we left the cult, I felt so alone and wondered if anyone was praying for me. I didn’t know where to fit in anymore. It made me more aware to pray for and encourage other people.

My husband’s depression/anxiety. I tried to deal with it on my own for a very long time. It was a deep, miry pit for both of us. I have learned to have compassion for others but also to pray for them and their caregivers. God is our strength.
