S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Fairlight for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. #1 Gift, Giving (65%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Currently we have money to give (although it is what my husband is earning, not me). Although, I feel like in the past my experience with God has shown that when I am generous, God entrusts me with more to give.

#2 Gift, Mercy Showing (56%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have often worked with low-income and more marginalized groups. Interestingly I feel more gifted in encouragement than mercy showing, but I think they go hand-in-hand: seeing those that need encouragement and showing them mercy and encouragement.

#3 Gift, Administration (53%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
My role as a teacher and then in teacher-leader roles as well as work on Leadership Teams have taught me a lot about administrating and leading.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. I love to be a part of something bigger than myself, or even my immediate family. I love helping put on something or working on something that comes to fruition that is meaningful.

2. Creating. I am much happier when I have some way to create whether that is planting seeds, crafting, or space and time to make good food.

3. Hospitality–welcoming people and providing space for connection and relationship

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I’ve always gravitated towards children because that is who I am most comfortable around.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Working out kinks to make something work well. Solving problems.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I grew up in a Christian home and was taught about Jesus Christ since I was little. I’m sure I asked Jesus into my heart when I was younger, but I very specifically remember a time when I was about 9-years-old when I was in bed praying and felt an overwhelming sense of love and peace. I mark that as when I first really sensed the Holy Spirit.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Co-Director for Girl’s Camp at Twin Rocks Friends Camp (2012-2013)

Experience in Assisting in Nursery/3-year-old Sunday school; Newberg Friends Church, Newberg, OR various times 1996-2012

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

The ways in which the church I grew up in allowed me to practice and explore my Spiritual giftings and the ways in which they affirmed my spirituality

The opportunities for travel and language study overseas

Meeting and marrying my spouse

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Years of waiting for God to bring about the right spouse in order to begin a family, including a hard break up

Growing up lower-middle-class and feeling the sting of not always fitting in or having the right stuff

Feeling ignored or unseen in places where that should be key to the relationship

Wrapping It Up

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. Running a bilingual low-income preschool

4. Encourage, inspire and instruct other teachers

5. Open up our home for gatherings for those that don’t have family/spaces to feel welcome and loved
