Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Prayer, staying in the Word – my real life day to day walk with Jesus is something I enjoy and that flows into the other areas of my life. Strength or weakness in this area is evident.

2. Encouraging others and praying for others.

3. Learning about Jesus in His Word or thru life – especially as a mom – encourages me to share it – with my kids, their friends and kids in community of relationships.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

In different seasons of life it He has brought various people/ages across my path. It has often been women, other moms and children.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Prayer driven initiatives that move towards personal growth in prayer, discipleship in prayer through the study of God’s Word and spaces to allow people to be real about their lives – real sharing that lends itself to godly accountability. (Freeing in transparency not forbidding, condemning.)

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I grew up in a home with one parent into religious tradition and the other parent focused on prayerful study of the Bible/their personal faith in Jesus walked out. People who did the right thing when others were looking (but not when they weren’t “on display”) left me skeptical and seeking. In a season of studying World Religions, I hired an out of work pastor. Conversations with “Pastor Cubie” & his wife, another Christian coworker led me to attend the most ethnically diverse & beautiful church I had ever been to. Pastor Randy’s bible teaching made clear so many truths/good ideas taken out of context that had pulled at me for years. That’s where I gave my life to Christ. Repeatedly 🙂 I was discipled by missionaries and others who’s humility and walks with God inspired me to get in God’s Word, get to know His character and learn to hear His voice personally.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

The City Mission – prayer team (~7 years)
New Song Church – prayer team (for the 7+ years I was a member)
House of Prayer – full time intercessory missionary (4+ years), part time for several years before and after that
707 – prayer team (the “Dan Burgoyne” years)
Harvestnet – admin (1.5 years)
Grace Church – prayer team (1.5+ years)
Bible Study Fellowship – Children’s leader (1 year)
National Day of Prayer Team for Ohio (5 years)

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

My father’s love for Jesus, his daily study of the Word of God, his prayer life and how he lived his life leading our family with both humility and humor.

Committing my life to Christ in an ethnically diverse church of missionaries was a huge gift. They invested in relationships and biblical discipleship that showed up in small groups. The groups changed periodically but they weren’t segregated to make everyone in your group feel comfortable for all being the same – so we benefited from the wisdom of different perspectives across generations and cultures (besides ethnic cultures I mean professionals, artists missionaries, singles and marrieds all mixed up – the scope of perspective taught me to appreciate each other and other stages of life). We met, ate, prayed and helped each other in the practical things of life – from emotional struggles to moves to loss of various types. It was not perfect but we did not have to be perfect. That made it all the more welcoming.

Serving faithful, humble men and women who committed to pray for the city of Cleveland/the Church across Cleveland – and who showed up to do so consistently over years. It modeled their belief in Jesus being the power to get it done in prayer and their commitment to unity beyond denomination, personal preference and style to me.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Seeing major fall out among leaders in the body of Christ across the city. I believe it was the kindness of God to show me how easy it is to take up the offense of others instead of leaning into prayer and walking it out with those who we are called to stand with as we walk it out together. It reminds me of how Paul cautions to be careful to speak to those who are mature in the matters where maturity is needed. There is wisdom in a multitude of counselors – I try to be intentional to pray about who is both prayerful and biblical in their counsel and if they have time to invest in relationship. Good ideas/strategies are everywhere. But that is not the same as biblical counsel.

The loss of both my parents in the last 4 years. Grief is real. While no one grieves 24 hours a day, the reality of waves of grief has made itself known to me. It makes me mindful of how we handle not just grief but challenges others have that we may not authentically relate to but that we can be compassionate regardless.

Seeing people “prophetically scan each other for viruses” was challenging. Hearing them talk about it/each other can be even more challenging. The bible says we are to test everything but I believe there He will give wisdom to understand discerning without judging. This is still an area that challenges me.
