S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Duane Wyatt for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

Raised Catholic, but briefly explored Baptist churches to hear the message. Married into Lutherism (enthusiastically) and have slowly progressed through many churches (changes driven by work situation). Discussions with my son have led to a more Biblical understanding of the Christian Life. Baptized September 28, 2020

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Thanksgiving Lutheran Church, Bellevue, NE, Senior Mentor, 4 years ending March 2020

Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Bellevue, NE, Elder/Sunday School Teacher/Computer Management, 6 years ending 2010

Mt Olive Lutheran Church, Aurora, CO, Sunday School Teacher

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

EdgeVenture Retreat, September 2020, Eldora, IA
Men’s Retreat that is designed to remove obstacles to your relationship with Christ. Unorthodox methods at that retreat helped me realize that I was not fully committed to Christ.

Mentoring 7th-8th graders at TLC (2017-2019) I witnessed the transformation of several young men from immature, rowdy youth to individuals striving to learn more about God and His plan. I previously had little hope for that generation but despite the conflicts, stress, and shenanigans I experienced with this last group, I was amazed to see God push a change on them.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

My relationship with my youngest daughter is poor. We are friendly but my approach to child raising has left a significant scar. She is a breast cancer survivor and had experienced severe mental health challenges. Since those events, she has thrived in her marriage and two sons and appears happy. However, she is an Athiest which obviously concerns me and my wife. Our relationship is damaged enough that I don’t see a path to leading her back to Christ.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. Enabling others to see and love God

4. Providing physical assistance to those sick, shut-in, or otherwise are unable to complete needed tasks on their own.

5. Enabling the church in accomplishing ministry goals
