S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Noah Peters for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Teaching (90%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I can’t help but teach! I am detail oriented. I delight in learning new things and I like to incorporate that excitement into whatever I am teaching. I love facilitating learning and witnessing “a-ha” moments.

#2 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (87%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
My primary love language is “words of affirmation”. A kind word is such a simple thing and yet I find them generally in short supply. I am working on listening and understanding God’s word. I want to offer truth in desperation rather then weak generalities or Noahisms.

#3 Gift, Prophecy (84%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I am unsure about this because I understood prophecy as supernatural predictions of the future. I never understood it to be believing Gods word and telling others God word will result in x,y,z on the precedent that it is God’s word. I see where Gods word and law should be applied. Additionally I see a weary and wayward world crying out as if their poor choices should be justified. It reminds me of Christ reprimanding the Pharisses and Sadducees when they asked for a sign. We can all see the sky and with limited knowledge interpret the weather. I can read scripture but the Spirit interprets and convinces in truth its application.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Loving my wife. Learning to serve her. Seeing our unified growth.

2. Listening to Gods word and learning its truths. Then applying it to my life, and encouraging others in my own encouragement.

3. Creating

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I love to work with mature Christians. They are an encouragement to me. They often see what I see and rejoice in the things I rejoice in. They are easily ministered to in times of need and readily minister to me in my times of need.

Secondarily I love children. The very young are easily excited and often interested. They are generally accepting and a delightful mix of silliness and seriousness. As they become teenagers they test limits and boundaries but are truly searching for answers. They are involved in all sorts of foolish idolatry but because of their youth those habits have not yet become hardened character traits. There is a hopefulness that abounds in the young, that is often fully quenched in adults.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

The idol of “my time” in regards to worship, study, and fellowship concerns me. We are stewards created to serve and yet we live our lives more as kings, and queens seeking service. I see a lot of lazy and merciless “christians”.

I am excited about the conversations i have been having regarding Christ with fellow brothers and sisters. I am excited by their testimonies and miracles they have been seeing in their own lives. I am witnessing people being transformed!!!
I am also excited in participating in active ministry with fellow believers.

Your Primary was ‘The Otter’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was raised with an understanding of Christ Jesus. Unbeknownst to me I was also being shown his love, grace, and mercy by the very same people. I immersed myself in the world looking for love, grace, and mercy but found all sorts of counterfeits. I returned to those I trusted and looked at the reason for their love, grace, and mercy. I went from knowing of God to knowing The God from whom Love, Grace, and Mercy spring forth.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Hunters Glen Baptist Church, Plano Texas 201? part time sunday school teacher for a young couples class and part time 3rd grade sunday school class teacher

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

High School Football and Track and Field. Winning and Losing. Working with a team and for others. Continuing regardless of outcome.

Winning a lot of commendations for art in High school and college. I was not always so self assured. Being recognized was all the confirmation I needed to pour myself headlong into making art and developing a set of skills.

Getting married to Samantha! First because I knew God had picked her for me. Secondly because of the knowledge God chose her for me when we struggled there was no other option then grow, forgive, love, and work. This has transformed me.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Seeking after love in relationship. Being unequally yoked resulting in being dumped multiple times. Finding out the pain and darkness where finite and then coming to the realization that Gods timing and purpose redeemed the lose and gave me wholeness.

Being at the deathbeds of my grandparents and suffering lose. in each of those circumstances God gave me intimate moments that redirected me to Him.

Being left to pursue all sorts of foolish destructive idols. Resulting in a long dark painful journey. I wish i had just committed to heart the parable of the prodigal son, but i had to live it to believe it. God is so merciful to me!
