S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results
Thank you Mary Landry for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I feel teaching is a calling and that I have been called. I have devoted my life to teaching in public school and church and have been blessed to have opportunities to make a difference in lives.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I am able to conduct meetings, lead groups of people, and accomplish what needs to be done. I can ask others to do tasks for which they did not volunteer. I can understand steps that need to be done to accomplish a purpose. I am not shy about speaking up or even disagreeing when I feel strongly about something, but if my ideas are not adopted, I can accept and lead in the ideas that were agreed upon.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I am willing to speak out for Christ and welcome opportunities to do so when others seek me out. I conduct myself and give signals (wearing a cross, carrying a study book, smiling and speaking to strangers) that I am available to talk and answer questions about my faith. However, I am not good at seeking out strangers to talk to. I ask God to send people to me.
[H]eart
1. teaching
2. coming up with ideas to implement as programs and seeing them accomplished
3. being with other people of all ages
I believe I can work with all ages. My stamina dictates that I can be active with children for only a short period of time. Although most of my work is with people who look like me and have my same outlook, I believe I can work with all people regardless of age, gender, race and other differences. I do best with others who are willing to do things — discuss, work together, accomplish tasks.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.
Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable
Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.
Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace
[E]xperience
I grew into my Christianity from childhood. I enjoyed Sunday school and church, was baptized and joined the Methodist Church at 12 years old, and have been active ever since. My spiritual journey has been uninterrupted and my knowledge and faith in Christ have grown throughout my life. One reason I was anxious to retire was to be more involved, and I hope to continue growing, learning, and serving throughout all my life.
I viewed my 33 years of teaching in public education as ministry.
I have supported and worked with many United Methodist ministries — choir, education, UMW, annual conference delegate — at local, district and conference levels.
Marrying a devoted Christian husband
Raising 2 children, one difficult, strong-willed son and an “easy” daughter, who have become remarkable adults
Being part of 2 church mergers, one easy and one very difficult, to the realization of what it means to be part of the family of Christ
Murders of my sister and brother-in-law
Sudden loss of my only other sister, making me the last person of my childhood family still living.
Divorces of my parents (who remarried), and both children and factor of abuse in those relationships.
