S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results
Thank you Brian J. Davis for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Teaching (90%)
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have the ability to learn and a high level of comprehension, and then convey that learning to others in a way that they understand.
#2 Gift, Evangelism (87%)
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Because I have a good understanding of the scriptures and have always been able to relate to others, no matter what level they are on, I have been able to show people the concept of sin, and the bondage to it, and how only Christ can save them from that sin.
#3 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (78%)
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have been in several low positions in life, such as homeless, hopelessly depressed to the point of attempted suicide, and in prison, and because I struggle with several addictions, I am able to understand and reach others who are in these positions as well and to give them hope.

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.
Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility
Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.
Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable
[E]xperience
My brief testimony of how I became a Christian
I grew up in church. At 11, I walked down the aisle, but only because I felt that it was expected of me. I went into the Navy at 19, where I got involved in witchcraft. After the Navy, I struggled in life, and witchcraft was losing it’s grip on me, but I was drifting spirtually, knowing that a supreme being existed but unsure of who or what it was. However, no matter how much I pleaded for it (Him) to reveal itself, whenever someone told me about Christ I refused to listen. Finally, one day my mother laid a challenge at my feet: Go to church with her every week for 8 weeks and read 5 Psalms and 1 Chapter of Proverbs every day for the same time period, and if at the end of it I never wanted to hear about God again, she would honor my wishes. I accepted, and being a man of my word, I abided by the terms. Four weeks later, during the invitation, I clearly hear a voice speak to me from a place where no one was, saying “This is your last chance.” Confused, I looked around. A minute later, the voice said, “This is your last chance. I won’t ask again.” In that instant, I knew I was hearing God’s voice and I couldn’t resist him any longer. That day I gave my life to Christ, although it would be several years more before I actually began to live for him.
Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):
I have been involved in church choirs off and on for most of my life (excluding the time when I practiced witchcraft). Most notably, when I was in prison I was part of a 25 man choir with a 5 man band accompaniment, singing the 2nd Tenor part (which for that choir was the equivalent of alto for most other choirs). I have also taught bible classes, again, in prison.
List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:
Failed suicide attempt that I can only attribute to God’s intervening hand.
Obtained two associates degrees, simultaneously, with a perfect gpa.
Participating in church choirs.
List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:
Addiction to pornography (I have learned that all addiction is the same, has the same cycle of behaviors, and the same consequences. The only difference is the chemical substance of addiction (drugs/alcohol), or the compulsive behavior (sex, food, work, etc.). This has given me a compassion for others with addiction, no matter how that addiction manifest in that person’s life.
Getting sent to prison for attempted murder – This was the wake up call that I wasn’t living for God the way I should have been, and provided me 17 years to not only get right with Him, but to extensively study His Word and learn how it applies to my life. It has also shown me that prisoners are just normal people who made a series of bad decisions in their life and are not hopelessly lost. They need God as much as anyone. We all have things in our lives that make us worthy of death (it’s called sin), but for prisoners, they are suffering the consequences here on earth for their sins. Yet, sin is sin. However, so often people in society discard prisoners as despicable, hopeless scum not worthy of their time or attention, and this often causes the person to continue in the behaviors that got them into trouble in the first place. I now realize that God loves these people too and needs people to reach out to them. How else can they learn of Him unless someone tells them about Him?
When I was 4, I was physically assaulted by a teenaged girl. As a result, I know the level of trauma that this causes. It took me many, many years into my adulthood to learn how to get past this. Consequently, whenever I hear of a child being harmed, whether physically or sexually, especially if it results in death, I not only feel outrage, but my heart breaks. This is compounded by the fact that I am 51, have never been married, and have no kids, but that is all I have ever really desired in this life, aside from a relationship with God, and to see people who have that family destroy it through abusive behavior outrages me, and I would like to do something to change that. Currently, I don’t know how I can because of my conviction, but if God wants me to do it, He will make a way.
Wrapping It Up
