My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

Pastor AM Daniel, being a humble man of God taught me obedience under leadership. His bottom lines were subjection with humility

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

In my business we were once cheated for 25Lakhs. It was due to my stupidity in handling contracts. By God’s grace we came out of it now. So today I mentor a few start-ups on how to handle finances and become successful. Pastor Chamraj gave me a book BUSSINESS BY THE BOOK. It made a big change.

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

We always went to church as children, a Baptist church. I was baptized when I was 11 or 12. I did fall away from the church and my faith for many years from a young adult until I found my faith in God again through Al-Anon 7 1/2 years ago. I think I’ve always been a christian though I have had a struggled with my faith in the past.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Finding my Al-non Family Group (Friends and Family of Alcoholics) and my sponsors and friends and support I found there. Our open sharing, a safe place to tell your truths. Learning how to trust God’s will and let go of my own.

The birth of my son, Uriah in 1975, and being chosen as his mother. He is my best achievement, I am so proud of him and the man he has become. His courage and faith inspire me.

Reconciling and being close again to my older half sister Janet, the last 7 years. I am so Grateful for this to God. She died this year knowing I loved her and she loved me.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

The divorce of my mother and father when I was in High School. The loss of my Mother to alcoholism and addiction when I was 28.

Because of my job, high schoolers. I’m most comfortable in a school setting because that’s the structure I’m most familiar with. I’m also in control in that environment, which is a huge difference between school and church. The youth room is a place I try to stay far away from now.

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I became a Christian when I was 5 years old. I was raised in a faith-centered home, which trained me well. My faith really became my own mid-college and in the years immediately after college. I was baptized the summer before my senior year of college.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Brunswick Church of the Nazarene – Brunswick, OH – Nursery worker, VBS volunteer, VBS set designer/painter, Children’s bell choir director
– over the span of 7 years.

Hope Church – Brunswick, OH – Nursery Worker, Secret Keeper Girl co-leader
-2 years immediately after college

Hope Church – Brunswick, OH – Connections Desk worker, Women’s ministry team member/secretary, Back Porch Book Club leader, Started a Young Adult Ministry and was therefore on the Leadership Team
-2 years prior to coming to Grace Church

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Childhood
-home-life extremely supportive with a heavy emphasis on the importance of trying your best & working hard
-teachers, bible study leaders, extended family who loved me like their own kids
-Being a middle child—supporting and cheering on the older sibling, advising and encouraging the younger sibling

Teamwork
-Soccer, Wind Ensemble, Theater

Being at a Christ-Centered college. Heavy emphasis on community. Seeing very intelligent people connect Biblical truths and philosophy into the curriculum.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

1st off, I’m actually not that compassionate. I feel like I’m more compassionate for people going through things that I haven’t experienced because I can just listen to what they are saying instead of saying “I get it, I’ve been there, I had to suck it up and deal with it–your turn!” I’m also a problem solver, so I try to fix things. Certain people I am compassionate towards, but I go more of the encouraging route. I’m empathetic—I feel like there’s a difference.

Overall theme: When the best laid plans don’t work.
My senior year of college, I was a complete and total mess. I was scared, I lacked confidence & pride in what I’d worked so hard to accomplish–and felt any honors or praise bestowed upon me was falsely given. I was completely unsure if teaching was the right job for me. It was the beginning of the end for my boyfriend and me–though we both thought we were going to get married. And I felt entirely unsettled, insanely weak for being so emotional, and was utterly exhausted.
My plans didn’t work.
It took 6 interviews to get a part-time job offer (which turned full time by the start of school). I was terrified of going to school every day.
My college friends had different schedules than me so we couldn’t talk.
But when I hit rock bottom, I truly found God. I learned to rely on him. I saw the support system that he put around me.

Overall theme: When people you look up to/adore fail in big ways.
Pastors being wolves in sheep’s clothing, people you’ve been vulnerable with–who’ve helped you grow.
Learning: How to carry on without a jaded perspective or a wall up.

Overall theme: Loneliness
Anyone I get close to moves away, goes into the mission field, goes to grad school or college, gets a boyfriend or begins parenthood and naturally become less available—all good things! But still, very alone.
Learning: How can I live within this phase to the best of my ability?

3. The beginning thought of a possible dream: Somehow support alumni who don’t go away to school/House a summer hang-out/Bible study for my former students. Providing an atmosphere where there is lots of fun, but no shinanigans.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I don’t really remember a moment, but was more of over time experience at a young age of about 8 that I loved going to church and the decision to get baptized at this age.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Youth ministry in Christadelphian Church for 2 Years

Children’s Ministry and Life Group Leader for 2 Years at Macquarie Life Church

Real Life Church Maitland
Children’s Ministry/ Men’s Ministry
Logistics Department Leader/ Life Group Leader/ Life Group Oversight
Eldership Team/ Ministry Team

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Going out with a Church Planting Team

When going out with the church planting team I said to the Senior Pastor that I do whatever he asked which was very challenging, but was very rewarding to see what God was doing in Me

Being a department Leader for Logistics which included Welcome I conquered my fear of shyness and found a love for meeting new people

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Was being forced to learn a ministry that I didn’t believe in that was not biblical so I stepped out of the eldership team and stood on my convictions

When I offended someone and I didn’t even know it. Even though there was nothing wrong in what I said that I humbled myself to apologized to make it right

when working with other department leaders with different personalities it can be very frustrating, but looking at the big picture helped us through our differences and work well together
