S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results
Thank you TJ McDonald for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Teaching (93%)
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
While I am surprised this is the number one gift that shows up here, I have always seen worship leading as teaching. I have always had the desire to show others how to do what I am doing, and I think there is a natural gravitation in that towards what I do with worship and media. Both are fields of ministry that benefit from someone comfortable in giving instruction. I feel the Lord has gifted me in this way, and so I’ve been led and called to these areas of ministry.
#2 Gift, Administration (84%)
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I feel my administration comes through being able to lead groups from the top down. Creating and evaluating goals, vision, and delegation are certainly areas that I still have much room to grow in, but come easy to me.
#3 Gift, Evangelism (78%)
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I feel I have this gift sort of through my natural inclination towards being unashamed. I am not intimidated to speak my mind in most situations, especially situations involving Gospel conversation.
[H]eart
Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:
1. Relationships. Spending time with others is how I spend the majority of my time; getting to know them, eating lunch with them, playing games with them, sharing life stories and testimonies… etc.
2. Music. There always has been, and probably always will be music in my life. I grew up in a very musical family. I was taught piano from an early age. Now I get to use music as a primary means of rejoicing in and bringing glory to God. I have always been singing. It is a talent and a lifestyle that I know was gifted to me by God for a reason, and I intend to use it to the fulfillment of that reason.
3. Competition. This one may seem strange, but I do consider myself a competitive person, and I see it affecting many areas of my life. You may think mostly of competition strictly in the sports-and-other-games context (and I absolutely and competitive there), but I frequently see competition motivating me in other areas, even in the above two that I have already mentioned (music and relationships). Sometimes it is a healthy motivation. Other times it is healthier to subdue competition. Either way, competition and strategic thinking in all forms bring fulfillment and excitement to my life. The biggest way I see it playing out in my life is the drive I have to keep things new and fresh – as in continually wanting to keep our worship services different and interesting at FFC – not wanting to get settled into ‘Sunday routines’ for too long.
Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:
I feel I can work well with any age group, though I think it is true of most people that I probably work best with those closest to my age. As for the type of people, I enjoy working with the type of people that ask good, pointed questions. As I am a verbal processor, being around those that can ask the right questions helps me accomplish things much faster.
Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:
Obviously – corporate worship. That’s a specific no-brainer. However, I do feel a burden for the church at large’s effectiveness at bringing real life change. I frequently find myself asking “how are we actually changing peoples’ lives?”. I find myself frequently frustrated at those that ‘church hop’, and wish we had more effective means of reaching people more foreign to the Gospel.

Your Primary was ‘The Otter’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.
Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline
Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.
Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian
Very blessed to have been born to Christian parents, was raised being trained in a knowledge of who God is
Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):
Malone University – Celebration Worship Leader
Canton, OH, 1 year
Parkside Church Green Campus – Worship Leader
Green, OH, 1 year
First Friends Church – Director of Worship
Canton, OH, 4 years
List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:
Not one isolated experience; but I very much feel who I am today was impacted incredibly by the upbringing I was given by my parents; there is no shortage of stories and things I could point to from my life at home.
Being given the opportunity, as a middle school and high school student, to lead worship at my church at my home in New Jersey was a great opportunity that helped shaped me into who I am and what I do today.
There was a moment where the Holy Spirit impressed upon me the lyrics to the bridge of ‘Desert Song’ – All of my life, in every season, You are still God. I have a reason to sing, I have a reason to worship. These lyrics have impacted me in foundational ways.
List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:
Financial hardship – I have experienced various forms of financial hardship in my life, while always finding my needs met – blessings through trials.
Difficult Familial relationships – Having family members that have turned away from God
Death of a loved one – lost a friend and mentor to brain cancer
Wrapping It Up
The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?
1. My Relationship with GOD
2. My Relationship with Others
- Putting Your Spouse First
- Your Kids Second
- Everyone Else After those
3. Having a school/center dedicated to worshipping God
4. Running a ministry-centered concert venue
5. Being a part of a ministry that utilizes the things that I am passionate about (worship, music, technology, marketing) to bring the concept of ‘worship’ to those with no relationship with God.
