#1 Gift, Evangelism (78%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
My enthusiasm for evangelism caught me off guard. It had never occurred to me that I was capable. On the other hand, I was never convinced that I couldn’t. During the men’s hike with our church, that gift emerged. Now that I’m aware that I have it, I think I need to shape it into a useful instrument from God.

#2 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (75%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Encouragement has been my strongest gift. I have been aware that I had this gift for a long time and have been molding and crafting it into something positive and uplifting.

#3 Gift, Mercy Showing (68%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Easily. Parental and church upbringing.

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Completing a project and receiving a heartfelt thank-you. I would gladly do something regardless of pay and as long as it’s done well, and I receive a thank you from something, it gives me joy!

2. Being included. Feeling like I belong. I had gone through a period of time where I felt like I was shut out and that was really damaging. Being included brings me joy and fulfillment.

3. Dance. Whether it’s Lindy, Salsa, Ballroom or Contra, I love doing it and it gives me great satisfaction, joy and fulfillment

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I enjoy working with anyone. As long as I can establish a connection, somehow.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Immigration and segregation. I have never been able to understand any need for any church to turn their backs on anyone. That doesn’t sound very Christian to me at all.

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I and my siblings were dropped off at Sunday school and church then we walked home. I was baptized as a child with my siblings and mother, completed classes and became a member of the Presbyterian Church. Our small town would have revivals, show a Christian movie and then everyone would be invited to go down front to be saved, I was always going down front. During teen years I did complete a class with the Way International but did not stay with it for long. During college did not attend church. However after marriage and we returned to KC, I became involved with my husbands church. Steve, his mother and other church members were many of my mentors. Steve and my faith helped me survive my sons death. Thank you Lord!

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Deacon, taught childrens Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
Participated in CWF for a time.

Became a Stephen Minister at Raytown Christian in 2002. In 2005 completed training in St. Louis for Stephen Ministry leadership. Continuing to be a Stephen Ministry Leader.

#1 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (84%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have often been told in a myriad of settings that my words have really touched someone, I impacted them on a level I didn’t expect, I made them feel worthwhile, etc. I have often had times when individuals felt led to open up to me and share deeply personal information, to get my feedback and support– even if I hardly knew them. I write creatively and have had similar impacts to my writing and how it can make individuals feel their worth, or temporarily forget the world and their problems because they go into the words…

#2 Gift, Giving (78%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I enjoy giving to others in a variety of ways and often find ways to do so. There are times when I wish I could give more. I do not mind giving of what is important to me and sharing with others. I sometimes do so much that I emphasize how it is no trouble or burden whatsoever, so the giftings can feel accepted without guilt. I feel off when I do not give or give less/appreciate less than I am wont to do.

#3 Gift, Evangelism (71%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have heard a lot that I am perceived in many circumstances as high energy and will mingle throughout my workplace, etc. to spread enthusiasm. This is perhaps something I was not entirely expecting to see, however, and perhaps I can learn more. I have seen on several tests how this has sometimes cropped up to a 2nd place position, and other times fallen to the middle of my list.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Successfully complete a powerful writing.

2. Give and help others in ways that I may.

3. Engage in good, powerful conversations that feel fulfilling for all parties, and broach more than just the superficial.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

This varies. I enjoy a range of individuals and ages for different reasons. I have a lot of experience working with children through teens, but I don’t specifically prefer them to young adults or the elderly. Honestly, I find that picking “favorites” — even in color– is not always easy for me and there is a contextual basis for many such judgments. I just like people with whom I feel moved to engage, and who move me.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Delving deeper into the word and all areas, dream interpretations, learning to resolve the context of the passages with the current time/age to aid in interpreting the best ways to apply the word to daily lives, end-time/relevatory prophesies, youth, those needing a breakthrough and women.

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was raised Lutheran and always felt a closeness to spiritual matters and God. I didn’t always regularly attend church, after moving from Arizona, for one reason or another. I recommitted to a new level when God prompted me to take some steps and met me in one of my bigger struggles, using obedient hearts to relay words that needed to be heard at those exact moments.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

I was in youth ministry and choir at Bethany Lutheran Church in Gainesville, FL– as a teenager. I went there from elementary school through Junior year in high school. I was an active part of the youth group, sometimes helped with Sunday school, engaged in fund-raising, performed in Christmas plays, and sang with the choir all through high school.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Traveling cross-country repeatedly with my family, while living in circumstances both of wealth and of need.

Both of my children, in addition to being the oldest sibling who started babysitting at 10yrs and spent a lot of time volunteering in the nursing homes/hospitals in which my mother worked.

Discovering my writing voice, which began to shape more of my conversations as well as my continued writing.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Running away from home and struggling with emotions in a manic-depressive kind of whirlwind.

Being regularly teased because of my need for braces and having to wear free-donated Lyon’s club glasses that were too large for my face and obviously made for elderly women– and other related financial issues.

The present state of my relationships and divorce process, plus having lines crossed where one is made to feel powerless.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. To write on a larger-scale, where time that cannot be afforded now is given to the degree where inspirational and complex pieces are written so that I could inspire a larger range of individuals.

4. Delve into seminary classes and really take an unprecidented amount of time to really dissect the word to that degree.

5. To travel and build more relationships and develop ideas, plus a reknewed family structure where all are genuinely heard, words are promises have meaning, life is collaborative, and God is present.

I am a nurse and have worked in different settings; critical care, long term care, home health and hospice. Currently a nurse case manager-I have had to be an encourager to the sick and hurting patients and families.

#3 Gift, Serving (62%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I like serving more than I like being the person in charge-I tend to be the “worker bee” and often find satisfaction in the serving act itself-such as bathing of a patient when I worked in hospice-I often worked along side the CNA as we performed the bathing and comfort care.
