My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

Saved when I was 8 years old at summer church camp. Had to write my sins on a piece of paper and then throw the paper into a fire – realized at that time, that if I wanted to become a Christian and have Jesus wipe my sins away – just like the fire. My older cousin was a camp counselor and she led me to Christ that night. I remember calling home and telling my mom and dad – we were all crying. I was baptist that summer, as well.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Experiencing God weekend seminar
AWANA program (cubbies and spark leader/director)
Children’s Committee x 8 years

4-5 year old Sunday School co-teacher x 6 years

Sang in choir
All of these above were at Friendship Baptist Church
Cartersville

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Working at Egleston with such sick children – ministering to them and their families through the illness and many times death. Taught me what “matters” and to let the little things go. Listening to the children who were so sick, tell me of seeing “someone in white” standing over them – and then holding their hand and their parents while they passed away – strengthened my faith and belief that god never leaves us. Each experience taught me how to help the next family.

Praying at the age of 30 for a husband and finally totally relying on God – being ok if I didn’t “find Mr Right”. Met Peter because a precious friend was fasting and praying for several of his friends – I was on his list. He met Peter at a job site during his fast and called me to tell me he had met the man I was going to marry. Peter and I agreed to be “set up” and when I met him, I knew he was the one. I didn’t know for months that Jeff had been fasting and prayer for God to send me the right man. That was a HUGE WOW moment.

Birth of our child – after being told it might not be possible due to some typical female issues. Prayed to God to let me have a child, if that was His will – but, that I was (and Peter) okay if we were to just take care of my sick patients.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Being engaged at 23 years of age – after dating x 5 years and calling off a wedding 2 months before it was to take place.

While in High School a very close friend was severely injured in a motorcycle wreck – killing one friend and leaving the other severely brain damaged. Spent months and 2 years helping him recover (from ICU, hospital floor, to rehab and therapies and finally home)

Death of my dad – 9 months of sickness (due to a motorcycle wreck) before his death

Wrapping It Up

Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. Work with children who have been rescued from sex trafficking,

4. Medical missions – work with a charity that travels to foreign countries and cares for orphans that have open heart surgery then helps to place them for adoption

5. Own a huge piece of land – with rescued dogs, have the rescued/abused children there rehabing the dogs and the children

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

After reading a book titled Religious without Christ when I was in high school, I was inquisitive on being a Christian. the leader of the Scripture Union group challenged us on what was most important to us in life and by the next time I listened to a sermon by a visiting preacher I was hungry and ready to give my life to Christ to reign in my life

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Served as a Greeter in First San Jose Foursquare Church, CA for 11years
Offered my home for small group fellowship in Nigeria for 4 years

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

I saw genuine Christian living in the leader of the Scripture Union and desired to emulate her She showed a real change of lifestyle which proved to me that Christ has power to change people

My mother was a very hospitable person and passed that on to me while watching her. To this day I love making my guests feel as comfortable as I can and people do visit me a lot as a result I guess

i realized the importance of actually knowing/memorizing Bible passages and practicing it from my friends in college

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Somebody I confided in told other people which made me feel betrayed. This made me realize the sting of gossiping and as such I am very aware of avoiding gossip

I was very disappointed in a friend who refused to help me in time of need and never wanted to associate with her but I listened to lots of talk on reconciliation and decided never to hold on to malice and grudges and learn to let go because no one is worth going to hell for
