[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was baptized at the age of 8 but than struggled through life from abuse(sexually and physically) as well as drug addiction to cover the pain yet always praying and believing and crying out to God. Three years ago God really revealed himself to me in a huge way and began changing my heart teaching me and most importantly giving me understanding on how much he loves me. He has changed my life by loving me and alowing me to know him.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Child care- The driven church; volunteer w/ preschool vas- CBC

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Being welcomed and accepted into this church and not feeling like an outcast or judged was huge for me as I had a lot of trust issues.

Being able to bring a few peopl closer to God and to be baptized.

To begin to truly know Jesus, and look back at the huge changes and blessing he’s done in my life in just a short time is amazing and I love to reflect and share.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

I struggled with years of sexual and physical abuse from my father and cousin. And because of this had severe trust issues and held onto labels and bad relation ships. I was brought up to not trust, or think to just do. Because of this I have a desire to advocate for other victims to be strong and cling to God rather than pull away and I know in my heart I only made it through all that because of Jesus’s love.

I was in a very physically violently,as well as emotionally, and verbally abusive marriage where I was afraid to leave and afraid no one would listen or believe for years.
I clung to God, read his word and worshipped him and he changed me and gave me the strength to get out and the support that I needed to get through that hard time. Because of this my relation ship with him is stronger and I am healing because I’ve trusted him and I can help others know they can too.

I lost my only brother(he was 33) 6 years ago and it broke my heart and I had anger with God on and off for years and didn’t understand why. But, through my relationship with Jesus and my growth I’ve been able to be okay with not understanding and knowing everything and for being great fuel that my brothers in a better place. That experience has also helped me appreciate my family, friends and relationships more and to take time to let others know that they are loved regardless of personal choices. It has helped me to be able to do more for others also.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. To sing regularly in worship and praise and to teach the word of God.

4. To have a huge home and take care of less fortunate children guiding them to he Lord.

5. To go on a mission trip to another country to help the less fortunate and lead others to Christ.
