Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.
Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace
Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.
Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline
[E]xperience
I was a sophomore in college and confronted with the claims of Jesus. At first I thought I was a Christian, but I realized that I had a lot of knowledge about Jesus, but had never had a relationship with Him. One night in October, 1967 I got on my knees and confessed my sin and need for Jesus as my Savior and Lord. That was almost 50 years ago.
Two years with Campus Crusade for Christ in campus ministry. That is where I met my wife. 1971-1973
1980-1990, served as Bible teacher, deacon and elder.
1991-1999, helped start new church and served as an elder.
1990-present. First Baptist of Cartersville. Bible teacher, men’s ministry leader, deacon, elder
My last two years of college (1969-71) I was disciple by Roger Randall. He helped me lay a foundation in my relationship with Jesus that has helped me survive and sometimes thrive in difficult times. Roger is still on the mission field in Nice, France.
When I was a teacher and coach from 1973-77 in Birmingham, Al, a minister in our church met with me and a few other guys every Thursday morning for bible study. He helped me grow in my knowledge and love for the Bible and how it could impact my life.
The last experience if more general than specific. I was challenged to read in the Psalms and Proverbs every day to gain an understanding of who God is and the wisdom he wants to impart to us. Over the past 40-45 years I have done this for 8-12 months at a time, and it has positively impacted my relationship with Jesus and given me wisdom that enables me to thrive in a hostile world.
In 1971 I was assigned to Stanford University by Campus Crusade for Christ as part of the staff team sent to reach students. I was a fish out of water. I had just graduated from Auburn University, a very conservative college and now I was at one of the most liberal places in the US. Anyway, I did a poor job of fitting in and being submissive to the leadership which was different from what I had experienced at Auburn. God dealt with my pride and arrogance and it was a humbling time. God has used this leadership lesson to enable me to help younger guys who have trouble submitting to authority.
In 1989 I was let go of a sales job for an insurance company I had worked at for 9 years. There were 15 of us in the Southeast that they wanted to push out in order to bring in younger guys who could be paid less. I was prideful about what I had accomplished and forced them to fire me. Big mistake. It took several years, the work of an attorney who was a close friend, and eventual departure from the industry 4 years later. Again, God was reminding me that pride is a deadly sin, and that my gifts and talents that make me successful come from Him not me.
The last experience is still playing out. Our younger son made some very bad choices in his senior year of high school that led to jail time and alcohol and drug addictions. Several times I went to God and explained all the things I had done for Him and how I should not have a child who would make these decisions. Somewhat prideful , but more an attitude that I didn’t deserve this to happen because of all the things I did for God. I was still stuck in a works mentality and I deserved better. God reminded me in Galatians that salvation was of the HS. That I am who I am not because of what I have done, but what He has done. Fortunately, none of us get what we deserve, we get God’s grace and mercy. God has a plan to bring glory to Himself not us. Today our son has a family, a job, and is back in church. I am better able to help parents understand that children are from God, they belong to God and He has a plan for their lives that is all about His glory not ours.
