S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results
Thank you Patricia Niemi for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. As a social worker, I did Child and Adult Protective Services, Pregnancy Counseling, Family/Parenting Education and the training and supervising of both Foster and Adoptive Parents. As a Nutrition Counselor, I taught small groups and Individuals in developing more healthy, active life styles, including teaching Diabetics how to reduce or eliminate their reliance on medications through better awareness of proper meal planning and the impact various foods have on their illness.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Although we are on a fixed income; through the Financial Peace Classes, we have learned to better manage our money and have been able to increase our giving to New Song Church, Your PER and other Christian Service Organizations.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
As both a teacher and social worker, I have a strong desire to help people improve their lives and have worked with many dysfunctional families and individuals. I have worked through court orders and helped restore children to a better functioning birth parents or cried with them as I helped them choose a family for the children they could not care for because they could not meet their needs. I have placed multiple “Special Needs” children with new families and supervised the new home placements. As A nutrition counselor, I have helped individuals to have faith and respect for themselves as they learn new ways of living, moving and eating, so they can do more for themselves and others.
[H]eart
1. Knowing God and knowing that he has intervened in MY LIFE, to save me from disasters such as breast cancer and car accidents.
2. Knowing that I am able to help others grow and improve their lives in a variety of ways through teaching, training, reeducation, understanding and example. I feel great joy when someone I have worked with says “Thanks for your help, I think I can do this on my own now.”
3. Traveling and experiencing other cultures and environments, helps me to recognize all the blessing I have in my life at home. It helps me put my “problems” into perspective and realize that I have a lot more I can do to help others.
I love working with people who are eager to learn and expand their horizons. Age does not matter if the desire is there.
I tend to think “outside the box”. I am more of a Why Not” rather than “We couldn’t do THAT” person. The fact that New Song is embarking on a new phase of growth, both physically as in members, and structurally, as is more physical space, is very exciting. Although I have some time limitations (I am the primary caregiver for my husband with dementia), I am able to computer research from home, share my ideas via email or via teleconferencing. I can also be present at meetings where it would be appropriate for my husband to attend.

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.
Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable
[E]xperience
I was raised in the Catholic Church. I actively participated in Church activities through college, but then drifted away from regular attendance. After marriage, we participated in the planting of a non-denominational church; but left the church area when we moved to a new home. When my nephew married, we began attending their church. When it became difficult for us to travel the 45 minutes each way we looked for a new church home and knew from the first visit that New Song would become Church to for us.
