[E]xperience

Our family was out of church for a while. I struggled with self-love. I was angry because my mom had a lot of back pain. There was a family that wa constantly trying to bring us back to church. They invited me to a Christian concert for my 14th birthday and I accepted Christ there. The joy and peace that others had was something I needed and wanted.

I have had opportunities to minister to the Deaf even before knowing sign language. It encouraged me to follow that as a career for sometime. It was what first called me to the ministry.

My nephews being born. They have given me a love and a reason to live sometimes.

My career moves have allowed me to serve others.

In 2008, I had a mental breakdown. I was told that I didn’t have enough faith or that it was Satan with a hold on me. It broke me and has taken me many years to trust that God is greater. However this has given me great compassion for those with mental health issues.

The church shutting down has been very difficult. I’ve noticed that it’s given me great love for the Pastoral family. I want to make sure they are cared for.

Unfortunately there have been many instances in which followers of Christ or those who say they are have hurt me and our family deeply. I have had to learn that my trust is in God not people.
