S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Rebeccca Martin for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Serving (78%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I like to make others fee comfortable and make things work efficiently. I like to look around and find things that others don’t notice and try to fill that gap.

#2 Gift, Giving (68%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Well I feel that it all belongs to the Lord. I can’t out give Him. He doesn’t need money or things but He does want to use me as a vessel to pour it out to where He wants it to go.

#3 Gift, Mercy Showing (59%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I think this one may be high because I have needed so much mercy, and I feel an empathy for others. I try to put myself in their shoes and think of how I would have responded to the same scenario. I understand that we never truly know what is going on in another person’s heart. But for the grace of God go I!!!

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Serving my family. I love to cook for them and plan vacations for them. Anything that helps us to spend time together laughing and enjoying each other.

2. Buying gifts for others and surprising them. I will spend a lot of time planning and researching items to purchase that I know the recipient will absolutely love or will meet a specific need.

3. I love to travel to new places and try different cuisines. Shopping in local markets are so much fun. It just fascinates me to see how other people live and eat.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

People who also have an inquisitive mind and are hard workers. It drives me crazy to work with lazy unimaginative people. A complainer will send me over the top. I thrive being around others who are working through problems and devising solutions to problems. It doesn’t matter their age to me at all. I also love to be around people who are encouragers. They have a selfless joy that just bubbles up in them.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

College ministry excites me and so does the thought of expanding our website presence.

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

When I was on an outing with my mom and one of her friends they were talking about the Lord and my mom’s best friend asked me if I would like to become a Christ follower and I really wanted to have that personal relationship that she had with the Lord. So we prayed right there in the Kroger parking lot in Houston on just an average day shopping for groceries.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Kanakuk Kamps, camp nurse at two of their camps
Camp Peniel, counselor and camp nurse

Phil Arms Ministries, no longer a ministry, making/copying tapes of the service

Choices Pregnancy Center, teaching, counseling, performed ultra sounds, President of the board.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Working as a counselor and on the work crew at Camp Peniel

Becoming a wife and mom to three wonderful young adults. One through the very difficult process of adoption.

Becoming a nurse

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Raising teenagers and surviving some of their choices

Health issues, surgery

Loss of loved ones

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. Be able to graduate from Dallas Theological Seminary

4. Would love to serve on a Mercy Ship

5. Spend my day in a large kitchen cooking for homeless people, good food, not just stuff out of a can, I would love to spoil them with downhome cooking.
