S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Debbie Whalen for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Serving (71%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I am very happy to stay behind the scenes and serve the church when I can

#2 Gift, Giving (37%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I enjoy very much giving to the needy. When you ask for Christmas presents, school supplies, camp supplies, Easter baskets, Walkers for the elderly…I do enjoy getting those items and bringing them to our church. I was a girl scout leader for 13 years and that was what I enjoyed most. Giving to the needy.

#3 Gift, Mercy Showing (37%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Im not sure what my gift in this category is. my heart hurts for the elderly, sick, and children. I guess that is why I like to give when there is a way I can. Unfortunately, I do not have mercy for the men and women in jail. I know many people that work in the jails and its just a very scary place to work. I know that is not what God wants of me, I will have to try to work on that. I honestly dont understand why God would forgive someone that murders or rapes or hurts a child. I dont understand if someone hurts a child and then is sorry to God that he has done such a thing, I dont understand how God can forgive. Im going to have to get some guidance on that issue.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. To try to be a loving and understanding Mom

2. To know I am being my husbands rock, partner and friend. I truly want to make him happy and be there for him.

3. I love to Crochet, it makes me happy. Writing down 3 things actually was very hard. I consider myself a happy person, yet this question didnt come easy for me.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I was a girlscout leader for 13 years and I was the Coordinator of all the girlscout leaders in Smithtown/St James for 3 years. I was really proud of what I did and I think I did it well.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I am looking forward to helping out with the 20,000 meals we are going to put together. I enjoy gathering/buying supplies for what ever our church is needing. ex: christmas presents, easter baskets, the box of items for the needy.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline
